US ZOOLOGIST WANTS CITY NAME CHANGED

An American zoologist currently in Chengdu on an exchange programme thinks the city should change its name to "Panda City."
Jay Pratte, who is working at the giant panda research centre, thinks that "chengdu" is too hard to remember and pronounce, and that "Panda City" would be much better. He added that it would promote the city's image internationally.
This vagarious proposal was surprisingly echoed by a local linguistic scholar.
A hotline has now been set-up to solicit feedback.
