HUSBAND DROPS WIFE ON WEDDING NIGHT A bride from Beijing has sued guests at her wedding after a toast went very wrong. The guests  made her perform a toast in which her husband had to hold her in his arms. Unfortunately, he slipped and dropped her, and the injuries she sustained cost 50,000 Yuan (US$6,165) in medical fees. The woman decided to make the guests pay for her misfortune, and the court ordered them to pay half the amount. Source - Beijing Times DRUNK DRIVER PINS BLAME ON SON A  drunk driver was prepared to try anything to avoid punishment, even pinning the blame on his son. The man hit three parked cars, but instead of taking responsibility he phoned his teenage son  and asked him to admit the accident, in the hope that the punishment would be lighter. However, police cottoned on to the trick and landed him with 30 days imprisonment, a six month license  confiscation and hefty fine. Source - Beijing Times SKY HIGH AIRLINE STATISTICS In 2004, China's airports handled 240 million  passengers, up 38.8 percent from the previous year, and 5.5 million tonnes (tons) of cargo, up 22.3 percent year-on-year, according to the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC). The  CAAC estimates that by 2010 there will be an annual passenger volume of 500 million people through China's airports and a cargo of more than 10 million tonnes. By 2020, annual passenger  volumes will reach 1.4 billion, while cargo will reach 30 million tonnes, according to CAAC data. These are huge figures, and some government officials have started worrying whether China will  be able to keep up with demand, despite plans calling for the number of airports to rise from 133 at present to 190 in 2010, and 230 by 2020.  Source - China Bureau of Statistics. MARRIED COUPLE FIGHT TO SETTLE RESTAURANT BILL A domestic dispute boiled over on the streets of Fuzhou, Fujian Province, last week when a husband and  wife fought over who should pay for lunch. The wife grabbed the husband's belt and lay crying on the street, while the angry husband gripped her wrist tightly until she agreed to pay. The  husband complained that his wife had money with her, and that while he worked hard to earn money, his wife sends it all to her parents. Source - Southeast Express

MAN'S BEST FRIEND TURNS  TO FARMING While most dogs spend their days sleeping and scrounging for food, Lie Lei, a 3-year old pooch from  Chingqing has made herself much more useful. The dog has been trained to act as a waiter and also a farmer; she carries her owner's tools, and knows which ones to pass him when he calls. Source - Chongqing Evening News HUNGRY HOUND HAS BONE TO PICK WITH OWNER An angry dog lost his temper with his owner when she stopped him from eating bones. The pooch's proud owner always fed him the finest dog food available and was horrified to discover one day that he was rummaging bins looking for bones. She took the bones away but the dog was  unimpressed and bit her. Source - Shanghai Evening News TOY SIZE PARENTS GO NUTS OVER BIRTH OF BIG BABY A tiny family in Chengdu felt huge joy with the birth of a child. The mother, Ma Xiaoling, is only 90cm tall and weighs only 20 kilos as she has suffered from a bone problem since she was a baby. Her husband is 1.6 metres tall. They had planned to become a DINK family - double income no kids - as doctors said Ma was unable to give birth. Fortunately, the baby is of normal height and healthy. Source - Chengdu Evening News
